How/why it was Discovered
The history of TUMS® began as a discovery in the basement laboratory of Jim Howe in 1928. His goal as a pharmacist, he was able to concoct a gentle, mint-flavored antacid for his wife who had suffered from acid indigestion. Soon, the tablets healing properties became recognized as a hit which enabled TUMS® to become the #1 antacid remedy today ("Brown, Lisa. -Tums Still Rolling after 80 Years.05 Sept. 2010")
When was it Discovered?
The history of the Tums antacid begins in the year 1928 where the pharmacist Jim Howe attempted to develop a gentle antacid that would cure the symptoms of acid indigestion. His remedy was successful and was soon recognized by people ailing with the same illnesses. After two years of being fully recognized, commercial production of the "Tums antacid" began.
